Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She is well-known as a public speaking. Feminist Frequency was founded by Sarkeesian. The site hosts videos featuring commentary and analysis of gender representations in the media and popular culture of today. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist, media critic and award-winning feminist for nearly a decade. Feminist Frequency is an educational site for non-profit organizations that explores the representations of females in popular culture narratives. Dispelling stereotypes of women is the main goals of her work. However, Sarkeesian also highlights issues related to specifically targeted harassment online against women as well as other communities which have been left out. Sarkeesian is a graduate in political and social thinking at York University. As a public speaker, she is highly sought after and has been a speaker at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. While a student at university she became concerned about issues related to gender and rights for women in the early stages. She had a plan to create a web series on gender-based representations in video games. She ended up being the victim of an online harassment campaign. But the assault did not deter her instead it was a boost to her determination as a feminist media critic. She has won numerous awards for her numerous notable contributions to the field of feministism.
